Showcase 2008 - Joseph
Romiley is once again involved in Showcase this year, performing
a selection of numbers from JOSEPH.
Watch this space for details of this year's donations to charity.
Showcase 2007 was Romiley's 11th appearance at Showcase.
ROS first appeared in 1995 with Anything Goes, and performing excerpts
since then from shows such as Hot Mikado (1998), Les Miserables
(2000), Miss Saigon (2002), Chicago (2003) and Chitty Chitty Bang
Bang (2005), as well as a tribute to Fred Astaire in 1999, Abba
in 2004 and Showcase Showstoppers in 2006.
Showcase, for those who don't know, is a chance for
amateur societies around Manchester to get together and put on short
extracts from past, present and possibly even future shows, and
at the same time, raise money for very worthy causes. It was founded
in 1991 by the late Saunie Williams to raise money for St Ann's
Hospice in Little Hulton. Since then, it has gone from strength
to strength, running every year (except for an extended break in
2001) at the Free Trade Hall, the Palace Theatre, the Opera House
and our new home from 2002, the Lowry Lyric theatre in Salford.
Around £85,000 has been raised for charities such as the Brian Robson
Scanner Appeal, Rainbow Family Trust, the British Red Cross, Breast
Cancer Research, the Motor Neurone Disease Association, the Meningitis
Trust and the Macmillan Nurses.
